Food for thought..

Description

I had taken a shot of this guy before, without really thinking about composition, I was more worried about getting the little dog in frame below him. I saw him again the other day, out shooting with Chris, =freakoftheeast and I had to stop and make a few more frames.

I took a few photos, and approached him, asking if I could take a frame of his face, dropping a $2 coin into his hat.

It took a moment to react to my presence and my question, with some words I won't soon forget.

"Wow.. wow.. do you know how many people take my photo without asking? Of course you can take my photo, thank you."

I often take pictures of homeless people, even though some street photographers I know frown on it, be it because of exploitation, or some other ethical, or other reason, but I don't take them to exploit, but to capture, and record, a face that might have been forgotten by someone, but not by history..

If my photos stand the test of time, at least.. That is what street photography is to me, history of those deemed not to matter by the 'history books'
