I met Alex last summer when Testament opened for Judas Priest. He is a super nice guy, and first rate guitarist.

First of all, the B&W conversion was a nice touch. The shot looks a bit too noisy to be displayed in colour (at least for my taste), but it suits B&W just fine. Also, I don't think colours would've added anything to the shot.

Compositionally, I would've tried to change one thing: I would have kept the rule of thirds in mind and placed the subject a bit more to the left (that would avoid "cutting" the headstock of the guitar as well). There is too much "dead space" on the left side. I wonder if there were some distracting items on the right side that kept you from "pushing" the composition to the left.

The lighting is good. There are some blown out highlights in his face and hair, but they don't bother at all. The light source in the upper right corner is what makes this shot so appealing to me.

Overall, I like it, and I would probably hang it on my wall if I were a fan of the band!
